On Jan. 11, 2013, police announced they were looking for two suspects who took hostages at a Los Angeles area mall the night before.
According to NineMSN.com, during the standoff, one woman was sexually assaulted, while another victim was stabbed during the hostage situation. The individual stabbed did not sustain life threatening injuries.
Police received a call at around 11 p.m., saying a robbery was taking place at the Nordstrom Rack located in the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center, reports the Los Angeles Times.
SWAT officers surrounded the mall and shortly after 2 a.m., 14 employees—13 female and one male—were found in a storage room and a bathroom.
While the standoff was taking place, about 200 people were stranded inside the multiplex movie theater located inside the shopping center, according to NineMSN.com.
The Times reports that not long after officers arrived on scene, a white Ford Explorer sped out of the parking garage at a high rate of speed. The driver was wearing a black hoodie and the passenger wore a white t-shirt, according to police.
Authorities are now searching for at least two armed robbery suspects, reports CBS LA.
