A woman jumped to her death out the window of a 24th floor Upper East Side luxury condo Sunday, landing on the roof of a three-story building next door. She took her life just hours before her family was due to visit her from out of town. The family arrived as emergency workers were removing her lifeless body from the third story roof of the adjacent building, according to the New York Post on Dec. 16.
Theri Sunnuz used a heavy object to smash the double-pane window, which took a good amount of strength to do. Authorities believe the 32-year-old may have used a chair to break the glass of the 24th floor window in the Yorkville Tower condo on Third Ave near 92nd street. Sunnuz jumped to her death just after noontime on Sunday. The woman’s relatives were horrified to arrive for a visit and see investigators rummaging through her apartment for clues as to why she took her life.
The New York Daily News said that the woman's friends reported that she was acting bizarre right before she jumped out the window. Residents of the $1-million plus condo high-rise were shocked to hear of the death. It is so close to Christmas, “I can’t imagine what her loved ones are going through,” said one resident of the building who asked that her name not be used.
It may never be known why this woman used all her strength to break a double plate glass window and then hurl herself to her death. The investigation is on-going today.
