Chicago prosecutors said Sunday that a woman is in custody for first degree murder and her father for concealing a homicide in a May 21 death.
Daisy Gutierrez, 19, allegedly stripped to lure her ex-boyfriend’s brother into her bedroom, where her new boyfriend stabbed him to death, slit his throat and decapitated him.
Salvador Gutierrez, 56, Daisy’s father, helped hide the mutilated body in his backyard, according to investigators.
Police have said that Daisy Gutierrez dismembered the body and tossed the parts into plastic bags that she buried in holes dug by her dad. She and her boyfriend fled to New Jersey the next day.
Police have said they found the remains of Jose Reyes, 30, on the Gutierrez’s property on the Southwest Side of Chicago on Friday while executing a search warrant.
Investigator’s also found body parts in jars inside the Gutierrez home on Saturday.
Daisy was charged with first degree murder and her father was charged with concealing a homicide according to a Chicago Police Department news release.
Assistant State Attorney Heather Kent said that both father and daughter have admitted to their role in the murder and cover-up.
The man who is suspected of actually murdering Reyes has yet to be apprehended.
Kent said that Daisy Gutierrez had two children with Reyes’ brother. She said the murder plot may have stemmed from the new boyfriend’s insecurity over Reyes attraction to Daisy Gutierrez.
