A woman was shot multiple times and left to die in the middle of the road off Ga. 92 in Union City.
A man was also found nearby suffering from gunshot wounds.
So far, police have not found out who shot them or why.
On Saturday, they identified the woman as Ms. Christina Wellington, 30, and the man as Mr. Marshall Wellington, 54, Union City police said.
Police have not identified their relationship. Their last known address was the Sunset Lodge on Ember Drive in Decatur, police spokeswoman Detective Gloria Hodgson said.
The investigation began after a Fulton County Public Works employee found the two victims around 9:10 a.m. Friday and called 911, Det. Hodgson said.
The woman was lying in the middle of McClure Road and the man was lying in the woods near the side of the road, she said.
A man identified as the daytime manager at the extended stay hotel, Mr. Prati Singh, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he last saw the Wellingtons on Thursday.
He said the two first checked in earlier this month.
Mr. Wellington was taken to a Grady Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery, Det. Hodgson said.
His condition was unknown Saturday.
