Woman killed getting rental car on Frankford Ave

     A  74 year old woman who was in the process of retrieving a rental vehicle  from a Ford dealership on the 7700 block of Frankford Ave. was struck and killed by a vehicle traveling north on Frankford Ave.  The driver stopped her vehicle while pedestrians attended  to the victim and others went to notify the Fire Department which was  less than half a block away.

     The incident happened just after 10:00 a.m.  when the woman went into the dealershipfor a repair problem with her vehicle. She was issued a rental vehicle which was parked across the street. She exited the dealership and walked across the southbound lanes of Frankford Ave. with no issues. When she  got to the northbound lanes, she was struck.

       Witnesses include anoff duty firefighter from Yeadon who stopped to render aid.  Medics were called and the woman was rushed to Aira Hospital, Torresdale Division where she was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m.  Her identity is being withheld until family can be notified. police investigated the scene and will determine if the driver will suffer any charges later,once the investigation is over.
