Philadelphia Police have said that 49 year old Fermina Dera from Montour St. in the Lawncrest section of the city has died, following a horrific car accident yesterday, June 5 2014 at the intersection of Tabor and Godfrey Aves. Details of the crash were sketchy but police did confirm that it appears there were only two vehicles involved. A work van which was making a turn and the Dera vehicle which was traveling straight.

The crash happened at 9:18 a.m. police said. No charges are filed at this time. The operator of the work van was listed in critical condition. Dera was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the vehicle which appeared to be operated by a family member, police said.

The area was closed down by police while the scene was investigated. Residents were upset and complained about the frequency of accidents at the intersection. Police could not comment on those claims. A small crowd of people stood and watched but most of the residents converged in the middle of Godfrey Ave. and wondered when the cops would clear the scene. They also lamented about the lack of news media covering this crash.

Funeral arrangements for Fermina Dera have not been announced yet.
