A woman was killed early Sunday morning when she stepped in front of a BMW on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven.
The woman has been identified as Ms. Sarah Christy Galliland, 35, of Atlanta, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Still, troopers are investigating the incident and are trying to determine what why the woman stepped into traffic outside a crosswalk.
It's also unclear what she was doing in the area.
The incident happened shortly before 2:40 a.m., just north of Dresden Drive, GSP’s spokesman Mr. Gordy Wright said.
Troopers said Ms. Galliland stepped into the right lane of Peachtree Road, into the path of a 2006 BMW 750i that was heading north.
After the crash, the driver Mr. Harvey Jerome Bellamy, 34, of Roswell, apparently stopped at the scene and investigators said he is not expected to face any charges.
Ms. Galliland was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Mr. Wright said.
