A woman in Bhopal, India gave birth to 10 stillborn babies in one day. According to a report, Madhya Pradesh, 28, began suffering from "medical complications" when she was 12 weeks pregnant and needed to be transported to a hospital 75 miles away. During the ride, Pradesh gave birth to 9 infants, all stillborn. The tenth baby was born at the hospital but was also dead.
"Obstetric and NICU team at our hospital helped her to deliver the 10th one in the operation theatre—all were born dead at almost 12 weeks (sic)," said the assistant superintendent of the hospital.
The woman and her husband used IVF to conceive a baby -- doctors did not see the 9 other fetus' inside of Pradesh's body -- likely because Pradesh did not go back to the doctor for prenatal care once she got pregnant. Doctors say that at least one baby might have made it to term had they conducted "multifetal pregnancy reduction (sic)" which would have terminated some of the infants in order to save the others.
