A woman was shot multiple times after at least three men broke into her south Fulton County home and found her hiding in a closet late Thursday night.
Police on Friday were still searching for the men who they said fled in a stolen vehicle with items they stole from the house.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was in stable condition at Atlanta Medical Center, according to Fulton County police.
At 11:50 p.m., the woman called 911 after hearing someone breaking into her home in the 4900 block of Estonian Drive, near Fairburn, police spokeswoman Detective Melissa Parker said.
“She hid in a closet, but as the perpetrators made their way through the house they found her and shot her multiple times,” Det. Parker said.
Officers arrived in time to see the suspects fleeing in a Honda and followed them, she said.
But the men abandoned the vehicle in a neighborhood off Demooney Road and fled with their stolen items, Det. Parker said.
Officers later learned the vehicle was reported stolen.
