A New Forest, Hampshire woman was found dead on Sept. 2 in the field where she kept her horse. Officials have concluded that the British woman’s death is suspicious in nature, and have opened a murder investigation.

Thus far, authorities in Hampshire have not released the woman’s name. Further information is expected to be released within a short time.

It is assumed that the woman was at the field to take care of her horse and something transpired that ultimately lead to her death on Tuesday afternoon.

Police initially received a call close to 5 p.m. They were working to determine what might have occurred. At this time, police believe that the woman’s death is suspicious. Results of the autopsy are expected to give further information into the victim’s demise.

Says Detective Superintendent Paul Barton of the Hampshire Police Department,

We are treating the discovery of a woman's body in Beaulieu as murder. I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lyndhurst Road, Beaulieu, on Tuesday, September 2 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to contact us.

Authorities have increased the presence of law enforcement and boosted patrols in the vicinity. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Supt. Barton or the Hampshire Police Department.

Nothing is known about the condition and whereabouts of the deceased woman’s horse.
