Woman found dead in Michigan garage whose body is said to be mummified

The remains of a woman that looked like she has been dead for possibly several years was found by a contractor on Wednesday in Michigan. According to the Detroit News on March 6, she was discovered in the backseat of a Jeep that was parked in her garage and she was apparently mummified. Authorities are trying to piece together why she had been sitting there for so long without being discovered sooner.

The home in Pontiac had been recently foreclosed, which is why the contractor was there to work when she was found. He made the terrifying discovery and called police. The woman is believed to be German and in her 40’s. No one seemed to notice that she was missing for this long. Neighbors believed that she worked in the automotive industry and did a lot of traveling for her job.

"She was probably there for a couple of days, then she’d leave for a week, then she’d come back. Then she’d leave for a month and come back," one of the neighbors told WXYZ.

Another person thought that maybe she had a son but she wasn't reported missing. They all noted that the woman has not been seen in approximately three to six years. They all thought that maybe she had moved out. Her body was said to be frozen to the seat so the time frame needs to be pieced together to figure out how long ago she died.

An autopsy is pending and her name is not being released as they are on the search for any relatives that she may have.
