According to Wednesday's KKTV 11 News, a woman's attempt to rescue a dog who had fallen into a ditch near Longmont, Colo., ended in tragedy when she drowned in the fast-moving water. The unidentified 31-year-old woman had been visiting friends in the area.
According to 9 News, on Tuesday afternoon deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a possible drowning at the Highland Ditch. The woman's friends were already performing CPR when deputies arrived minutes after the call came in.
After being transported to an area hospital, the woman was pronounced dead; her name will not be released until family members are notified.
The dog who the woman was attempting to save from the water was saved.
