Woman driving minivan caught with $500K worth of drugs at U.S. border

A 35-year-old Mexican woman driving a minivan was caught trying to smuggle drugs into the country. In a video report by GeoBeats, the woman was stopped at the US Border in Pine Valley, Calif. The woman was driving into the U.S. from Mexico and had her 11-year-old son with her -- not suspicious at all, right?

Turns out, the woman had $500K worth of meth in the car. The woman was cruising along just fine until drug-sniffing dogs alerted officers that something wasn't right with the minivan. Upon further investigation, authorities uncovered 27 bags of meth -- the drugs were inside of the minivan's gas tank.

According to the report, the packages of meth weighed 40 pounds. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $500,000. The woman was promptly arrested and will likely be charged with possession of an illegal substance among other things. Her son was brought back to his father in Mexico.
