A woman was dragged onto subway tracks in Philadephia. On Jan. 18, ABC News reported that a man dragged a woman across the platform at a train station and threw her on to the rails. The man evidently really wanted her cell phone as that's all he reportedly stole from her after the incident.
"A man and woman wait for the subway after 3:00 in the afternoon. Then, the man approaches and asks the woman to borrow a lighter. Returning it, he lunges, choking her and attacking her with a flurry of punches. Then, the unthinkable. The suspect grabs her ankles, dragging her across the platform, and tossing her on to the tracks," ABC News reports.
The woman dragged onto the subway tracks was able to pull herself to safety before a train came along. She did not have any serious injuries. The suspect did manage to get what he apparently wanted. According to the report, he nonchalantly reached in to the woman's handbag and took out her cell phone. He then walked casually out of the subway station like nothing had happened.
All of these frightening details were caught on a security camera. The footage is pretty unbelievable and very hard to believe. It is clear to see the attack, which occurred while no one else was around to help.
The man who dragged the woman onto the subway tracks was arrested by police. The man has been identified as William Clark and officials say that he will be charged with aggravated assault and robbery. He still had the woman's cell phone at the time of his arrest.
