Friday morning was met with a tragedy in Charlotte when a woman was killed while walking southbound on I-85 according to the CMPD.
The accident happened a little after 8 a.m. when the victim was struck while she was walking between the Billy Graham Parkway and Little Rock Road exits.
The investigation is ongoing, but a man who claims to be a relative of the woman says she was struck by two cars as she tried to cross the interstate.
There are also reports that several 911 calls were made from motorists before the woman was hit.
The two left lanes were rapidly closed and motorists were allowed to pass on the other two lanes.
The Charlotte Observer is also reporting that this is the second death in four months where someone was killed while walking on I-85. The previous accident happened about three miles from this morning’s accident.
A man was also hurt while walking on the interstate back in November of 2012 on the interstate in north Charlotte.
