The woman who claimed to have found a profusely bleeding puppy with his ears cut off in Upper Darby has now actually confessed to the act. Read original story here.
Kristina Murphy, 19, of Havertown, allegedly claims in a statement:
“It was around 11:45 I pick up (the) puppy from (a) breeder. He had fleas and scabs on him. I took him home to clean off the scabs and fleas. I was cutting old scabs off when I cut his ear off. I panicked and cut the other one. I wrapped his head so the bleeding would stop. I said I found him so he could get medical care that I could not afford.”
Ten pets were removed from Murphy’s apartment by Delco SPCA Humane Investigators and transported to the Delaware County SPCA. In their care are two Chihuahuas, a German Shepherd, a Beagle/Yorkie mix, and a kitten. Murphy also relinquished ownership of various reptiles and exotic birds.
The District Attorney's Office will file a criminal complaint of animal cruelty against Murphy next week.
On a happy note, the puppy, now named Van Gogh, is receiving the best of care at Stoney Creek Veterinary Hospital, is doing well, and has two potential forever homes after his ears have fully healed.
