Each day thousands of children face the deadly epidemic of child abuse in the United States. Statistics show a child is abused every 10 seconds and 5 children die each day from child abuse and child neglect
Today Beaufort Gazette (islandpacket.com) reported Kandace Crawley was arrested on Thursday on an outstanding warrant in connection with the February 10 incident involving her 2-year-old son.
Crawley is accused of inflicting serious burns on her 2 year old toddler back in February, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The boy suffered "second- and third-degree burns from a hot bath," according to the warrant.
An Augusta, Georgia physician examined the toddler's injuries and told deputies the boy's injuries were the "result of child abuse, not an accidental fall into the bathtub," the warrant states.
On June 18, the Sheriff's Office secured a warrant for Crawley, but they weren't able to locate her until Thursday. She was found at a relative's home. Crawley remains in the Beaufort County Detention Center. She is being held on bond for $20,000.
