But it’s unclear what prompted the deadly shooting and the unusual events surrounding it, including the kidnapping of a man who was found half naked and bound at a woman’s front door.
Still, so far, Ms. April Bailey has only been charged with murder. She was arrested Monday, according to Atlanta police. But they have not said if she acted alone.
The following details were obtained from the police report:
The investigation began on Oct. 14 when officers responded to 2980 Jonesboro Road after getting a call about a person shot.
At that time, officers did not find the victim, but they found multiple cartridge cases.
A security officer at the apartment complex told police that residents reported seeing a gunman loading the victim into the trunk of a silver Pontiac, which was gone by the time officers arrived.
At 9:07 p.m., less than half a mile away at 565 Springside Drive, a woman called to report a gunshot victim in her front yard and a silver Pontiac backed into her driveway.
The registered owner's address is 2980 Jonesboro Road where the shooting occurred.
The victim, later identified as Mr. Danta Hayes, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died of gunshot wounds to the chest and neck.
At 12:21 a.m., a resident at 1017 Westview Drive in southwest Atlanta called to report a suspicious man knocking on her door.
Officers found Mr. Yavis Kilgore, naked from the waist down with his wrists and ankles bound with tape.
Mr. Kilgore, who turned out to be the owner of the Pontiac, told officers he had been kidnapped from his Jonesboro Road home.
He was transported to Grady Hospital for minor injuries.
