Misty Van Horn was arrested by investigators for attempting to traffic her own children though the social network, Facebook. According to a report from News 9 on March 11 stating this 22 year old Sallisaw woman went on this major social network trying to sell her two children via the internet.
People today seem to do the most unthinkable things and think they can get away with it. Don’t they realize that a screen name or avatar name isn’t going to hide their identity from professional legal investigators?
That is just what it seems Misty Van Horn was thinking. Or was she thinking at all? The general public doesn’t think so.
Misty relates to her Facebook audience that she needed money to bail her boyfriend out of jail. We have all heard stories like this before. Who really puts their children on a back burner to a criminal boyfriend? There are many and it is a shame too. Her children depend upon her for everything and this is not how a mother should treat her children who she is supposed to love, cherish and keep safe under her maternal wings.
But, that isn’t what this Sallisaw woman in Oklahoma did. She sought out another plan that backfired against her. She went into Facebook and put up her two year old child up for sale with a price of $1,000 and her 10 month old baby for $4,000. She went on to say she needed the money to help her boyfriend out of jail and the price for her children included keeping them for life as well as all of their belongings she had at home for them too.
Investigators got wind of this and acted upon it quickly. Misty Van Horn was arrested and is being held in the Sequoyah County Jail on a charge of trafficking children. Her two children are now safely removed from her and are now in the custody of the state.
The case is now in the hands of the District Attorney as well as being investigated by the Narcotics Human Trafficking Unit. She is currently being held on a $40,000 bond.
