Woman assaulted in Adams Morgan, hot air balloon tragedy

News sources in the Washington, D.C. area have reported a woman was robbed and sexually assaulted early Sunday morning by a group of six police are looking for.

The victim was dragged into an alley in Northwest Washington, D.C.in the Adams Morgan area. According to police, the woman was walking in the 2400 block of Ontario Road before she was attacked.

The Washington Post revealed the woman tried to identify her assailants but the incident happened too fast. She did make a description of a man with dreadlocks; the other person had short hair.

The robbery and assault occurred around 5:45 a.m. on the 2400 block of Ontario Road NW. "An adult female was walking in the area when she was approached by a group of four males and two females," police said in a release. "The group dragged the victim into a nearby alley where they robbed her of her personal property. Two of the males then sexually assaulted her before fleeing."

People are urged to call the District’s police number at 202-762-9099, text 50411. A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Hot Air Balloon Tragedy in Virginia

A registered commercial hot air balloon pilot and two University of Richmond staff were killed when their hot air balloon exploded and burst into flames hitting a power line on Friday.

The balloon was registered to Daniel Kirk at an address in the Dover, Delaware, area. His company's website said that Kirk had more than 20 years' experience as a hot air balloon pilot.

The website says Kirk had a commercial balloon pilot license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration and had flown in ballooning events throughout the country.

The two passengers in the balloon have also been identified as University of Richmond Women's Basketball Associate Head Coach Ginny Doyle, 44, and Natalie Lewis, 24, director of basketball operations.

The bodies of the three passengers have been located after a lengthy search in the heavily wooded area where the balloon landed.
