A woman charged with tasing an elderly woman during a robbery Tuesday was arrested Thursday, according to a Thursday night news release from the Jackson Police Department. Police said the woman is linked to a similar robbery of an elderly woman in December and has been charged in that incident also.

Police said they arrested 22-year-old Jennifer Morris, around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Morris, who is being held at the Madison County Jail, will be arraigned, via video link, at 8 a.m. Friday in Jackson City Court on two counts of aggravated robbery.

In Tuesday’s incident, police received a call around 6:30 p.m. about a robbery. A 76-year-old woman told officers that Morris, who was an acquaintance, came to her Ellis Drive home around 2 p.m.

The release said Morris and the victim were talking about a matter and when the victim wasn't looking, Morris tased her several times in the neck. The victim was able to knock the Taser out of Morris' hand, which led to Morris strangling the victim.

Morris demanded money after the victim asked Morris what she wanted. The victim complied and wrote Morris a check, which Morris took before leaving the victim’s home.

The release said investigators noticed that Morris matched the description of a similar suspect in an incident that occurred around 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12.

In that incident, an 82-year-old Jackson woman was on the parking lot of Batteries Plus, located on Innsdale Cove off of Vann Drive. The woman was sitting in her car, conducting a transaction with Batteries Plus because she had trouble getting out of her car.

While the elderly woman waited for the employee to return to her car, she was approached by a young woman, who was later identified as the robber. The elderly woman said the young woman was a stranger to her.

The young woman demanded the elderly woman's wallet and when the victim hesitated, the young woman pulled out a weapon described as a "stun gun" and threatened the victim. The young woman then reached into the victim's purse, which was laying in the car seat, and took the elderly woman’s wallet.

The young woman was able to get away and the case had remained unsolved until investigators noted distinct similarities in the Dec. 12 robber's description and Morris' description. Further investigation revealed that Morris was responsible for the December robbery.
