Woman arrested for allegedly killing missing San Jose man

San Jose police report that they have arrested a 46-year-old woman on homicide charges in connection with the March 7 death of 69-year-old Stanley Jacobson.

Police received a call last Thursday regarding a deceased male inside an Ironwood Drive apartment. Upon arrival, they located Jacobson, who had been reported missing on February 18.

The missing persons investigation revealed that Jacobson was possibly with San Jose resident Regina Butler. Detectives believed Butler was attempting to exploit Jacobson financially because he was suffering from the early stages of dementia.

Butler was detained at the scene after the victim’s family alerted police to her return. Investigators claim that Butler killed Jacobson in early February and concealed his body inside the apartment. She was arrested for murder and remains behind bars in Santa Clara County Jail.

The investigation into Jacobson’s death remains open and police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Sgt. Steve Bustillos or Det. Jaime Jimenez with the department’s Homicide Unit at (408) 277-5283. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Silicon Valley Crimestoppers at (408) 947-7867.
