A woman in Union, S.C., was arrested after police say that she tried to kill her dog in front of deputies, reported Monday's Fox Carolina.
On Friday, deputies with the Union County Sheriff's Office were called out to a home on Blue Ridge Road following the report of a domestic dispute.
The strange situation began with the suspect, Betty Gregory, wanted to bring a sickly dog inside of the home, but her husband refused to let the dog inside.
After being denied, the woman allegedly became "hysterical" and was screaming that she wanted to bring the dog into the home.
While the deputies were present, the 50-year-old woman went outside to get the dog and the officers attempted to stop her. After the deputies attempted to detain her, she threatened to kill the dog and allegedly began choking the dog and twisting the dog's head.
The deputies and other family members jumped into the fray and were able to get Gregory to release her hold on the dog's neck. Animal control officers were called to retrieve the dog and the woman was arrested and taken to jail on charges of breach of peace and ill treatment of animals.
No word on the condition of the dog who was attacked.
