On Tuesday, police officers who were responding to an anonymous tip, found the skeletal body of a six-month-old puppy who died while attached to a tree; the deceased puppy belonged to 33-year-old Tiffany Ward, of Memphis.
The puppy's world was painfully small - he was attached to the tree by a short, two to three foot tether, and there was no shelter, food or water which could be accessed by his short leash.
According to the police, what little food was there, was moldy and beyond the pup's reach.
By the time that the authorities made the grim discovery, the long-neglected puppy had already been dead for at least two days. A veterinarian with Memphis Animal Services confirmed, as evidenced by the pup's wasted body, that the dog died of starvation.
Ward was arrested and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
