An 86-year-old woman was found shot to death Tuesday morning in the home police said she shared with her long-time boyfriend in Marietta.

And so far, no one has been arrested for her murder.

The Marietta police have identified the woman as Ms. Juanita Calvert. They have not released the name of the boyfriend and it’s unclear how long the two have been living at the home at 211 Aviation Road.

It’s also unclear when the woman was shot, but the caregiver who visits the home daily arrived around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to check on the elderly couple and found the woman dead of a gunshot wound, police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.

The caregiver called 911 and officers arrived to find the woman dead and the man unharmed,Officer Baldwin said.

It’s unclear where in the home the elderly boyfriend was at the time of the shooting and whether or not he was cognizant of what happened.

And police declined to comment on whether there was any forced entry into the home.

The man was taken to Kennestone Hospital to be cared for while investigators closed off the home as a crime scene.

The investigation is still active and detectives are currently following up on leads gathered at the scene, Officer Baldwin said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Shane Merritt at (770) 794-5324 or the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at (770) 794-6990. Attached is a picture of the victim, Juanita Calvert.
