A 78-year-old woman was killed Saturday after she entered the roadway and was struck by a SUV in Cobb County.
The wreck happened around 6:35 p.m. on Jamerson Road at Jett Road in Marietta, police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
Investigators said the driver of a blue 1993 Buick LeSabre was traveling westbound on Jamerson Road and was approaching the intersection of Jett Road when the woman attempted to cross Jamerson Road.
She was heading from the north to the south side of the intersection, Sgt. Pierce said.
“As the Buick was entering the intersection, the pedestrian entered the westbound lane of travel and was struck by the automobile,” Sgt. Pierce said.
Police have not released the name of the driver, who apparently remained at the scene after the wreck. There were no other reports of injuries in the incident.
