There are several stories in the movie world that have made news in the last 24 hours. Movie Web reported on Wednesday on these recent developments out of Hollywood including the directors signed on to direct both Wolverine 2 and The Expendables 2. The first news of a possible Transformers 4 was also reported on. Wolverine 2 currently has a release date to Scottsdale theaters set for 2012.
Starting with Wolverine 2, the search for a director for a film has now ended. Darren Aronofsky backed out of the project months ago, and now a new director has been found. That director is James Mangold. He is the man behind such films as Walk the Line and Knight and Day. He also has worked with the star of the film, Hugh Jackman, in Kate and Leopold.
The Expendables 2 is the next film to land a director. The director for this film is Simon West. He directed The Mechanic. Sylvester Stallone directed the first Expendables film, but he wants to focus on the action in front of the camera this time around. The Expendables 2 is set for a summer 2012 release date to Scottsdale theaters.
Last but not least, a new report surfaced about the potential for a Transformers 4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set for release later this month, and one star, Shia LaBeouf, has already said that he would not return to his character if a fourth film is made, but Tyrese Gibson is more than ready, and he dropped a hint about Steven Spielberg taking over directorial duties if Michael Bay also decided he was done with the series after the third release. This one might take awhile to make. Currently, Spielberg is looking to reboot his Jurassic Park series for a fourth film.
These news stories have people buzzing on social media. Here are some of the recent comments made on Twitter today:
James Mangold, eh? I love 3:10 TO YUMA & thought KNIGHT & DAY had some good scenes, but still this feels like a scramble. #wolverine
The Wolverine will be the comic film that defines how others are made. Can't wait for this! #favoritecharacter #wolverine
MovieWeb are posting their "exclusive" news that Steven Spielberg "may" direct Transformers 4. Hmm...believe it when i see it.
These films will be seen in Scottsdale theaters once they are released. What do you think of these recent movie developments out of Hollywood?
