Wolfgang’s Vault is open and rockin’! Located at www.wolfgangsvault.com, The Vault is veritable treasure chest of live music that can be streamed and/or purchased as the whole concert in MP3 or FLAC form. It’s not heaven, though it’s close enough for rock n’ roll fans and music purists alike. The Concert Vault is one of the world’s greatest collections of vintage concert recordings. It’s the only place one can hear Bill Graham introduce the Allman Brothers Band at the Fillmore East, The Jefferson Airplane on New Year’s Eve, Steve Miller ask for more PA volume at Winterland, or Peter Gabriel bringing up unannounced guest, Robert Fripp, to join him onstage at the Bottom Line in New York. It’s the one place you can listen to some of the greatest live music of all time in full concert format…the best thing is that it’s free and legal.

In 2003, Wolfgang’s Vault acquired master recordings from the archives of Bill Graham Presents. These live concerts were recorded at legendary venues like the Fillmore West & East and Winterland between 1965 and the late 1980s. In early 2006, Wolfgang’s Vault augmented the Graham archives by acquiring the archives of the King Biscuit Flower Hour, the nationally famous syndicated rock-radio broadcasts of live concerts from the 1970s and ‘80s. They also added the Silver Eagle Cross Country archive of country music concerts in 2006. In 2007 the Record Plant and Dawson Sound catalogs were added, and in 2008 The Vault also added the Daytrotter and Noise Pop catalogs. It doesn’t stop there, as the folks at Wolfgang’s Vault are on the hunt for more content of quality live shows. Subscribe to their weekly newsletter and it will keep you on top of the newly added concerts, along with other little goodies.

Wolfgang’s Vault has carefully transferred these aging, but well-preserved, tape archives to highest-quality digital formats using the best tools available, and have carefully catalogued everything. Here’s a typical list of the newly available shows for this weekend: Electric Light Orchestra Winterland 2/14/1976, Blue Oyster Cult Music Hall 10/16/1976, Randy Newman Record Plant 11/10/1974, Terry Reid Fillmore West 12/15/1968, .J.D Souther Bottom Line 11/11/1979, The Staple Singers Fillmore Auditorium 4/18/1968 The Mastersounds Newport Jazz Festival 7/3/1959, The Swan Silvertone Singers Newport Jazz Festival 7/5/1959, Queen Maida Vale Studio 10/28/1977, Dr. John Bottom Line 11/8/1978, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells Blues Band Bottom Line 1/9/1978, Bobby Bare Jr. Daytrotter Studio 11/16/2009, The Antlers, Daytrotter Studio 10/30/2009. If you like the looks of those, then jump further into the vaults to find classic vintage live performance by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Miles Davis, Bob Marley, The Boss, The Stones, David Bowie, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, U2, and thousands of more quality artist’s and concerts.

Since it was launched in late 2006, the Concert Vault has offered high-quality, streamed versions of all of the concerts for FREE! One can personally rate each concert; maintain a Favorite Concerts list and personal Playlist. It is also possible to meet kindred souls in the social networking of the Concert Vault Forum. The download service is easy to use, delivering great quality music to download at a fair price. Not all concerts are cleared for sale, but all are for streaming. The cost of downloading an MP3 full concert runs between $9.99 for MP3 & $12.99 for FLAC format the initial list of shows available in classic Vault; some headline acts, some hidden gems and a handful of lesser-known artists.

One other thing should be noted about Wolfgang’s vault. If one ventures into the Vault store, you will find more unbelievable treasures such as: original Fillmore, The Family Dog, and Winterland handbills, and posters for sale, also there are rare photos, t-shirts, historic apparel, and vintage tickets to check out. For those with a higher bank account, look at the auction section to bid on original historic posters, handbills, and prints. So go to a real Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and check out the goods at Wolfgang’s Vault. It will not disappoint.
