The Hartford Wolf Pack (i.e., the team formerly known as the Connecticut Whale, which was formerly known as the Hartford Wolf Pack) will begin their four-game preseason schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 25, when they take on the Worcester Sharks at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell. First puck drops at 7 p.m., and admission is $5, with proceeds benefiting inner-city hockey programs in the Hartford area.
The following evening, the Pack will play their first game of the year on home ice when they entertain the Albany Devils at the XL Center. Game time is 7 p.m., and admission is free to Wolf Pack season ticket holders, who can pick up their season tickets at the game. Tickets for the general public are $5, and are now on sale at the XL Center box office, and online at www.hartfordwolfpack.com. This will be the first AHL preseason game at the XL Center in 15 years—when the facility was known as the Hartford Civic Center. One dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to the Ryan Gordan/Hartford Wolf Pack Community Scholars Fund. Gordon, a young fan who passed away in 2006, requested that a portion of the money set aside for his college education be donated to the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation.
Three downtown restaurants will be offering promotions that night:
Fans will receive a 15% discount on food, and a raffle will be conducted for a Wolf Pack prize pack, with proceeds donated to the Ryan Gordon/Hartford Wolf Pack Community Scholars Fund at the Tavern Downtown at 201 Ann Uccello Street.
In addition, the Russian Lady, located at 191 Ann Uccello St. and the Rocking Horse Saloon, 181 Ann Uccello St., will be offering $3 domestic draft specials.
The following evening, Friday, Sept. 27, the Pack take the short trip up Interstate 91 to Springfield where they will meet the Falcons in their lone road preseason game at 7 p.m. The Wolf Pack preseason wraps up with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, Sept. 29, against the Falcons at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury. Tickets are $5, and proceeds will benefit inner-city hockey programs for Hartford-area youngsters.
The Wolf Pack, the top minor-league affiliate of the New York Rangers, will kick off their 17th season in the American Hockey League on Sat., Oct. 5 at the XL Center when they entertain the Norfolk Admirals.
