It didn't take long for the Nevada Wolf Pack to drop another ballgame to the Fresno State Bulldogs Thursday night.
The Wolf Pack fell to the Bulldogs, 7-1, at Fresno in a game that took just 2:15 to complete. The loss opened a five-game road trip for the Pack. The final four games of the trip (and the regular season) will be at San Jose State starting Friday.
The Pack fell to 20-28 overall with the loss and 9-11 in the Western Athletic Conference. Fresno State improved to 37-11 and 17-7.
The game was originally scheduled for April 19 but was rescheduled due to the death of Nevada president Milton Glick. The victory completed a 4-0 sweep of the season series for the Bulldogs against the Wolf Pack.
Fresno scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning off Pack starter Troy Marks. Marks went five innings and allowed six hits, four walks and five runs, though just two of the runs were earned. The Pack committed two errors in the game.
Greg Gonzalez dominated the Wolf Pack on the mound for the Bulldogs. Gonzalez, one of the top pitchers in the WAC this season, allowed just five hits and two walks in eight innings while striking out 12. Gonzalez, who improved to 10-0 with the victory, threw 73 of his 104 pitches for strikes.
The Wolf Pack scored its lone run on a sacrifice fly by Joe Kohan in the fourth inning to cut Fresno's lead to 3-1.
Brock Stassi had two of the Pack's five hits, including his 19th double of the year. Nick Melino got his 16th double of the season.
