The Nevada Wolf Pack softball team beat Rutgers, 2-1, and Cal Poly, 5-2, on Saturday in the Mustang Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to even its record at 12-12.
The Wolf Pack went to extra innings to beat Rutgers in the bottom of the eighth on a pinch-hit RBI single by Caylin Campbell and then completed the sweep as Ariel Craig make her 2013 pitching debut to beat Cal Poly.
Craig, who had allowed 135 hits in 73.1 innings in her first two seasons at Nevada, allowed just five hits and two walks in beating Cal Poly.
Cal Poly fell to 7-15-1 on the year and Rutgers dropped to 7-7.
Karlyn Jones went eight innings to beat Rutgers and improve to 7-4 on the season. Jones fanned nine and allowed four hits and two walks. She struck out Rutgers' Melanie Slowinski and Loren Williams in the top of the eighth with a runner on second to keep the game tied.
Campbell, who had just one RBI, all year brought home Jasmine Jenkins with the winning run in the bottom oft he eighth.
The Pack pulled into a 1-1 tie with Rutgers on a led-off home run in the sixth by Jenkins, her first home run of the year.
Lauren Lastrapes went 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored to lead the offense against Cal Poly. Lastrapes, now hitting .256 this year, hit a two-run homer (her second of the year) to give the Pack a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
Lastrapes also doubled in the sixth inning and singled home a run in the Pack's two-run seventh.
Karly Hopkins walked with the bases loaded in the sixth to give the Pack a 3-1 lead. Jenkins, now hitting .333, also doubled in a run in the seventh.
The Wolf Pack will conclude take on Rutgers this morning at the Mustang Classic.
