Wolf Pack hoping to turn season around against Bulldogs

The Nevada Wolf Pack women's basketball team is hoping for a much better start this Saturday against Fresno State than it had last Saturday at Wyoming.

The Wolf Pack fell behind 16-0 at Wyoming and was routed 92-41 to suffer its first Mountain West loss (1-1). The Pack, 6-9 overall, has lost five of its last six games and will host Fresno State this Saturday at Lawlor Events Center (1 p.m.).

Fresno State currently leads the Mountain West at 2-0 (10-5 overall).

The Bulldogs-Wolf Pack matchup will pit the top two steals teams in the Mountain West. Fresno leads the Mountain West with 13.3 steals a game while the Pack is second at 10.3 a game.

The Pack had 23 steals in one game this year against Oregon on Dec. 9. Fresno's best was 20 against Cal-Maritime on Nov. 12. The Bulldogs' Taylor Thompson had seven steals in one game this year against Texas-Arlington on Dec. 2 and leads the Mountain West with 3.7 steals a game.

Fresno's Alex Sheedy has averaged 1.9 steals a game. The Pack's Arielle Wideman is averaging 2.2 steals a game while teammate Chanelle Brennan has 1.9 steals a game, Danika Sharp has 1.6 a game and Terilyn Moe has 1.5 steals a game.

Brennan leads the Pack in scoring at 13.6 points a game followed by Sharp at 13.1. Fresno is led by Ki Ki Moore at 16.5 points a game followed by Thompson at 11.1 and Sheedy at 9.9.

Sharp had six 3-pointers in a game earlier this year against Portland and Moe was 13-of-13 from the free throw line against Cal State Fullerton.
