Wolf Pack narrows A.D. search to three finalists

The University of Nevada announced Wednesday that its search for a new athletic director has been narrowed down to three choices.

The three finalists for the job will visit the university on March 4-6 for a day-long series of interviews to allow Wolf Pack coaches and staff, faculty, students and community representatives to meet them. The schedule includes an open forum in the Auditorium of Legacy Hall with each finalist candidate.

The finalists and the open forum schedule are as follows:

  • Timothy Leonard: Leonard is the senior associate athletic director for external affairs at Southern Methodist University. He also served as interim director of athletics last year and is a former assistant vice president for athletics development at the University of Central Florida. Leonard's open forum will be March 4, 3-3:45 p.m.
  • John Johnson: Johnson is the senior associate director of athletics at Washington State University and the former director of intercollegiate athletics at Weber State University. Johnson's open forum will be March 5, 3-3:45 p.m.
  • Doug Knuth: Knuth is the senior associate athletic director for external affairs at the University of Utah and formerly was the assistant athletic director/director of major gifts at Michigan State University. Knuth's open forum will be March 6, 3-3:45 p.m.

Current athletic director Cary Groth announced her resignation last September.
