WKU Grand Slams #18 Vanderbilt in Nashville

Kes Carter and Matt Rice hit grand slam home runs to slam #18 Vanderbilt 17-2 in Nashville onTuesday afternoon.

The Commodores were on a ten game winning streak prior to meeting the WKU Hilltoppers.

Brian Edelen threw shutout pitches for six innings, allowing on three hits.

This is the third nationally ranked team the Hilltoppers have beaten in the 2010 season. WKU's record improves to 13-4 with the win, and Vanderbilt is now 14-2.

This is the second time the Hilltoppers have scored17 runs and they have scored 30 runs in their last two outings, and 54 total runs in their last four games.

 Jared Andreoli's career-high five lead the hitting onslaught for the Hilltoppers with five hits. Matt Payton was 2-for-5 with three runs extending his hitting streak to 15 games. Casey Dykes was 1-for-2 with three runs and three walks.

The Hilltoppers earned one run on two hits in the top of the fifth to take a 9-0 lead after four-and-a-half innings.  Vanderbilt left 12 runners on base in the game.
