WKU beaten by Vanderbilt 17-6 in Bowling Green

In a total reversal, WKU was on the losing end of a seventeen run winning score, beaten by the Vanderbilt Commodores 17-6. The previous day the Hilltoppers prevailed over #18 ranked Vanderbilt by 17-2.

The 'Dores where in charge from the first inning after a nine run explosion. After their at bat in the second inning they had extended their lead to 14-2.

 WKU is now 13-5 on the season, and Vanderbilt moves to 15-2.

The highlight for the WKU Hilltoppers was Kes Carter hitting his fifth home run of the season. Monte Ketchum kept a base runner in place by reaching in all five plate appearances, drawing three walks and hitting a double and a single.

Matt Payton extended his career-long hitting streak to 16 games with a first-inning single.

Vanderbilt was paced by three hits apiece by Bryan Johns, Aaron Westlake and Jason Esposito. Westlake drove in four runs.

WKU heads to Richmond, Va., to play a three-game series against VCU Friday-Sunday. Game times are 6:00 PM (CT) on Friday, 2:00 PM (CT) on Saturday and 11:00 AM (CT) on Sunday.
