WKRG-TV contest winner unacknowledged during local newscast (updated)

WKRG-TV did not broadcast the name of the last winner in their "Gimme $500" contest during the local morning news program they produced on Tuesday, February 26th, between 5:00 and 7:00. The only details about the contest mentioned during the program were the name of the "Anchor of the Day" (required for entering the contest), the directions for viewers and listeners of the program to enter the contest on the Internet, and the prize for winners of the contest (a personal check worth $500). Before February 26th, the morning news programs usually had a news presenter announce the name of a winner in the contest after announcing the name of the "Anchor of the Day" and the directions for entering the contest.

According to a message on the professional Facebook page for Devon Walsh, one of the news presenters for the news program produced on February 26th, the reason neither she, nor Bill Riales, the other news presenter for the news program, did not announce the name of the last winner in the contest was because a person responsible for informing the station about the winner forgot to send the station a piece of electronic mail with the name of the winner. According to the message, the last winner was all ready informed about his or her winning the contest, since the folks responsible for informing the winners of the contest about their winnings "always" contacted them on the days before their names were announced during the local news programs WKRG-TV produced between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

(update for Wednesday, February 27th: "WKRG-TV contest winner acknowledged one day later due to error")
