Wizards top Clippers, face surging Knicks

The Washington Wizards improved to 9-14 at home Monday in a 98-90 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers and face the New York Knicks tonight in their second of four season meetings. The Wizards took advantage of the absence of Clippers Blake Griffin and Chris Paul in their bout against the Clippers, yet reserve Jamal Crawford unloaded a game-high 28 points. Can Washington tighten up their defense and get another win streak going at the Verizon Center?

The Wizards are 5-1 at home since the January 12 return of John Wall. Rookie Bradley Beal is still day-to-day with a sore wrist and Washington will continue to make use of Martell Webster in his absence. The veteran forward-guard led the Wizards with 21 points Monday and went 5-for-6 from deep.

The Knicks are a team that can match that long ball tempo, something Washington will need to account for as they tackle New York tonight. What the Knicks can't deal with is an inside attack, and the Wizards have plenty of pieces--Emeka Okafor, Nene, Wall--to turn the paint into a war zone.

Tonight's game will air on CSN at 7:00 p.m. ET. For live coverage be sure to check out @DCWIZ.
