Wizards react to historic German victory over host nation Brazil

Germany defeated host nation Brazil 7-1 Tuesday, in one of the most lopsided Semi-Finals performances in World Cup history. Brazil conceded 5 goals for the first time since 1938, and they did so in the first 29 minutes of play. Here's how the Washington Wizards, both former and present, reacted to the beat down.

Former Wizards forward-center Etan Thomas said, "Well I guess 7-1 sounds better than 7-0 #WorldCup #BrazilvsGermany," following Brazil's lone goal in the 90th minute. Thomas underwent open heart surgery in 2007, but that didn't stop him from playing ball. He played for Washington from 2001-2009 before leaving for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Former Wizards guard Shelvin Mack said, "Damn it's getting crazy....," as the goals started to pile. Mack, known to use an excessive amount of periods in his Tweets, followed with, "Somebody point shaving now.......," in reference to gambling. Without forward Neymar, the odds were certainly against Brazil.

Former Wizards center JaVale McGee took a chance to "ReTweet" himself by saying, "RT @JaValeMcGee34 THIS IS A VIDEO GAME 5 GOALS IN 29mins..." (McGee often starts a new Tweet out with a self-referenced RT.) Not to be outdone, Washington Wizards Examiner also Tweeted a video game reference (FIFA 2014): "Reminds me of Amateur difficulty in FIFA 14, where you can just run a forward past any time you want."

The Tweet of the night--as far as the Washington Wizards are concerned--had to be from newly re-signed center Marcin Gortat, who joked, "I hope Nene is ok....," in reference to teammate Nene, who is a Brazil native. Gortat's Tweet earned 945 ReTweets and 707 favorites at the time of publication (Washington Wizards Examiner added one to the ReTweets).
