The Wizarding World of Harry Potter just keeps expanding.
After announcing the theme park will open in 2016 in Hollywood, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios Japan have confirmed the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open in Osaka on Tuesday, July 15.
“We cannot wait for the July 15 opening. ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ will be a wonderful addition to Universal Studios Japan and will contribute to energizing Osaka and the local economy,” said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The announcement also included the unveiling of the park's Hogwarts castle, attended by Caroline Kennedy, Ambassador of the United States of America to Japan; art director and production designer for the Harry Potter films, Stuart Craig; actress Evanna Lynch, who played “Luna Lovegood” in the “Harry Potter” films; architect Tadao Ando; and Universal Studios Japan ambassadors, and beloved musical act, SMAP.
In addition, fans can explore the park online through www.usj.co.jp/harrypotter, which revealed the park's Hogsmeade will have a few more attractions than the Orlando park--Gladrags Wizardwear, new to all Wizarding World parks, and Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment, which will open in Orlando this summer.
“Harry Potter inspired a generation of children to love reading … and when they are not reading, I hope they come to ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,’” Ambassador Kennedy said.
