Universal Orlando has released a video featuring James Phelps (Fred Weasley from The Potter movies) announcing a live webcast that will take place on January 23, 2014 that will feature a big reveal about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley expansion.
The webcast is expected to include the final details about all of the shops, attractions, and (probably) the official opening date for the London/Diagon Alley/ Hogwarts Express areas of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The webcast takes place the day before Universal Orlando’s “A Celebration of Harry Potter” event, which runs from January 24-26. This special event includes a Harry Potter Tribute, interactive experiences, a wand master class, Q & A sessions with cast members, a one-of-a-kind Harry Potter Expo, and more. Please click here for more information on this event.
Universal Orlando also released a couple of teaser trailers leading up to the big January 23 webcast. Please click here to view trailer #1 “Empty Places”, and here to view trailer #2 “Adventure Continues.”
The Orlando Informer recently posted a video showing what the Diagon Alley construction looks like now. Please click here to view the video. The video shows the London façade with Grimmauld Place (The family home of Sirius Black).
This is very exciting news for fans who have been anxiously awaiting this big news so that they can plan their trips to this fairy land next summer. As soon as the new expansion is open, visitors will be able to visit Harry Potter’s London, enter Diagon Alley, visit the shops and attractions there, and experience the Gringotts Bank ride. Then they can hop aboard the Hogwarts Express and ride to Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle just like the young witches and wizards in the Harry Potter books and movies.
