Do you love the timeless classic, "Wizard of Oz?" Of course; doesn't everyone? Well, you now have the opportunity to possibly be part of the stage play version. Germantown Community Theatre and The Memphis Jewish Community Theatre announces that auditions dates for roles in the play will be Saturday, August 24, 2013, @ 2:30 pm (At GCT) and Sunday, August 25, 2013, @ 3:30 pm (At Memphis Jewish Community Center), with callbacks (if needed) Monday, August 26, 2013, @ 6:30 pm.
Rehearsals will begin October 14th, 2013.
PERFORMANCE DATES: December 11 – 22, 2013. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays at 7:00pm. Friday at 9:30am and 1:30pm. Sundays at 2:30pm and 7:00pm. No performances on Friday, December 20.

Requirements for auditions, as specified by the director, Brandon Lawrence are:
A recent photograph and completed audition form, which can be downloaded at www.gctcomeplay.org, Non-singing Roles: A one minute monologue, poem, or speech, memorized. Singing Roles: One minute memorized piece, plus a one to one and a half minute song of your choice (preferably from The Wizard of Oz). If you plan on singing, please bring sheet music, a CD or be prepared to sing a cappella. Music will not be provided at auditions.
Needed: A cast of 25-30 actors, to be filled by adults and children. Please see character breakdown below for more information. Some role will be double cast.
Please note that while all age ranges listed are strongly recommended, GCT reserves the right to cast outside of age ranges when dictated by the director's creative choice. We ask that all those auditioning be able to read. Music sight-reading skills are a plus, but not required.
Dorothy Gale (F, 12 – 18)* – A young girl from Kansas swept up by a cyclone and dropped in the Land of Oz. Polite, sweet, wide-eyed and adventurous.
Scarecrow (M or F, 18 and Up)* – Good natured, helpful, big hearted, even without a brain.
The Tin Woodsman (M, 18 and Up)* – Brave, protective nature. Hopes to gets a heart from the Wizard.
Cowardly Lion (M, 14 and Up)* – Loud and scary, but a pussy cat at heart. Lacking courage.
Wicked Witch of the West (F, 16 and Up) – The Witch who rules the West. Sister killed by Dorothy's falling house.
Good Witch of the North (F, 16 and Up)* – Beautiful and noble witch of the North. Protector of Dorothy and her friends.
The Wizard of Oz (M, 45 and Up) – Former medicine show man who has fooled all of Oz into believing he is a great Wizard.
Gloria (F, 12 and Up) * – A young girl of Oz, friend to Dorothy
Auntie Em (F, 35 and Up): Dorothy's Aunt.
Uncle Henry (M, 35 and Up) – Dorothy's Uncle
Growlie (M, 18 and Up) – An old man in the service of the Wizard
Tibia (M, 14 and Up) – The Wicked Witches' Skeleton Butler
The Jitterbug (M or F, 16 and Up, DANCING ROLE) – A creature of Oz who makes you dance until you die.
