What do the wives of Jesse James, Tiki Barber, Tiger Woods, and Larry King have in common?
The wives of all four of these men filed for divorce from their cheating celebrity husbands this month.
Sandra Bullock is the fourth one.
While the wives of many famous cheaters stand by their man, Sandra Bullock, Ginny Barber, Elin Nordegren and Shawn Southwick all seem to have reached the end up their rope.
Below is a brief account of each episode of celebrity infidelity and how it led to divorce.
The Sandra Bullock – Jesse James Divorce
Cheating Celebrity Husband: Jesse James, motorcycle mogul, and TV reality show star
Betrayed Wife: Sandra Bullock, Oscar winning actress, known as "America's sweetheart."
Mistresses: Tattoo model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, Melissa Smith, and others. The official count is 5 mistresses, but reports say there could be as many as 15.
Duration of Marriage: 6 years
Number of Children: 3 children step children from Jesse’s previous marriage, and a newly adopted baby boy
The Celebrity Infidelity Which Led to the Divorce - Shortly after Sandra Bullock won her Oscar, Michell Bombshell McGee went public with the revelation that she and Sandra’s husband, Jesse James had had an 11-month affair while Sandra was away filming on location.
Shortly afterward, other mistresses began to come forward stating that they too had carried on affairs with Jesse James. Shortly after the story broke, Sandra Bullock dropped out of sight, while Jesse James checked himself into a rehab for treatment of sex addiction. There was much speculation as to whether or not she would take Jesse back.
Sandra Bullock has now filed for divorce from Jesse James, and has announced that she will finalize the previously secret adoption of their 3 ½ month old African-American baby boy, Louis Bardo Bullock, as a single parent.
The Tiki Barber – Ginny Barber Divorce
Cheating Celebrity Husband: Tiki Barber, former NFL foodball player and sports correspondent
Betrayed Wife: Ginny Barber, former fashion publicist
Mistress: Traci Lynn Johnson, former NBC intern
Duration of Marriage: 11 years
Number of Children: 2 boys, and twins on the way
The Celebrity Infidelity Which Led to the Divorce - On his 35th birthday, Tiki made a formal announcement that he and his wife Ginny were separating. Numerous reports appeared stating that Tiki had been carrying on an affair with Traci Lynn Johnson, who formerly worked as an intern at NBC. Tiki traveled extensively with 23-year old mistress Traci, while his unsuspecting wife Ginny Barber, 8 months pregnant with twins, remained at home.
While Ginny Barber recently spent a week in the hospital with the connection her pregnancy, while Tiki was seen squiring his mistress around town. Tiki had initially announced that he and Ginny would hold off on divorce until after the birth of their twins. But after Tiki proved to be unyielding regarding financial arrangements, Ginny surprised Tiki by going ahead and filing for divorce.
The Tiger Woods – Elin Nordegren Divorce
Cheating Celebrity Husband: Tiger Woods, world famous golfer, often described as the greatest golfer of all times
Betrayed Wife: Elin Nordegren, former swimsuit model
Mistresses: Rachel Uchitel, Jamie Jungers, Joslyn James, Jaimee Grubbs, Mindy Lawton, Loredana Jolie, and others - mostly strippers, porn stars, cocktail waitresses, nightclub hostesses and the like. This is only a partial list. Just how many mistresses there really are, we’ll probably never know.
Duration of Marriage: 7 years
Number of Children – 2, a boy and a girl
The Celebrity Infidelity Which Led to the Divorce: Tiger Woods’ one-car accident led to the exposure of his affair with Rachel Uchitel. Almost immediately, other women began coming forward to claim that they, too had been sexually involved with the golfing great, leading to the most widely reported celebrity infidelity story of the decade. At present, the mistress count hovers somewhere around 18. Tiger’s pristine reputation was ruined, and he lost major sponsorships.
After a brief hiatus from golf and a disappearance which lasted almost 3 months, Tiger re-surfaced, held a press conference, publicly apologized to everyone involved (except the mistresses), and vowed to do all to save his marriage and redeem himself.
After treatment at a sex addiction rehab center which lasted several weeks, and an unsuccessful attempt at reconciliation, it looks like Tiger may have to resign himself to a divorce. Elin Nordegren has reinitiated the previously cancelled divorce arrangements and plans to use Riger’s multiple infidelities to gain full custody of their kids.
The Larry King – Shawn Southwick Divorce
Cheating Celebrity Husband: Larry King, CNN broadcaster , and talk show host
Betrayed Wife: Shawn Southwick, country singer
Mistress: Shannon Engemann, Shawn’s own sister
Duration of Marriage: 11 years
Number of Children: 2 boys
The Celebrity Infidelity Which Led to the Divorce - Shawn Southwick counter-sued Larry King for divorce on the grounds that he cheated on her with her younger sister, Shannon. Larry was the first to file for divorce, accusing Shawn of cheating on him with Hector Penate, their sons’ Little League baseball coach.
The King-Southwick divorce was put on hold for 2 weeks, but since then, Hector Penate has gone public about his affair with Shawn in a tell-all interview, complete with intimate details. With dual accusations of infidelity, it’s not clear at this point who is divorcing whom, since both Shawn and Larry have filed for divorce.
