Witness: Aldon Smith arrested at LAX

Police arrested a man at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, according to witnesses. The witnesses have said the suspect is San Francisco 49ers OLB Aldon Smith.

Smith is presumed to have been detained for being hostile with security and saying something about having a bomb while in the line. In a video from TMZ, Smith claims he has done nothing wrong throughout the process. LAX said that the identity of this man will not be revealed.

San Francisco 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke released the following statement on Aldon Smith:

"We are disappionted to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

The 49ers linebacker has had previous problems with the law which includes facing felony counts for the possession of assault weapons from a house party incident in June 2012 while in San Jose. He was also arrested for a DUI before Week 3 of the 2013 season which led to an indefinite suspension with the team where he served time in rehab. Smith was out for five games before returning with the team after a bye week. Smith was also arrested for a DUI after his rookie season in January 2012 in Miami, FL.

On the field, Smith has produced 42 regular season sacks for the 49ers in three seasons. He set a franchise rookie record with 14 sacks and an overall franchise mark with 19.5 sacks the following year. Last season, Smith had 8.5 sacks in the regular season and 3.5 in the postseason.
