Mere hours after the NHLPA and NHL officially ratified the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Winnipeg Jets officially released their lockout-shortened season schedule.
Due to the shortening of the season, the schedule for games is a bit more skewed than usual.
First, the Jets, along with all other NHL clubs, will not play against the Western Conference. Second, the team will have staggered contests against Divisional opponents, and third, they will play thrice against the remaining 10 teams in the Eastern Conference.
The schedule will see the Jets play the Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers five times and the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes four times. The team will also play host to two games against the Toronto Maple Leafs and one each against the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens.
The season schedule for the Jets opens next Saturday, January 19 against the Sens in an afternoon tilt (2pm local) and will close on Thursday, April 25 against the Habs.
Among other highlights on the Winnipeg Jets' home schedule are two games against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins (Friday, Jan. 25 and Friday, Feb. 15).
The Jets also announced that training camp officially opens Sunday, January 13 with a noon start time. Doors open at 11:30am.
