" It seems to me that king of fistic combat, Manny Pacquiao needs Pretty Boy Floyd after all, " exclaimed Dave the Barber just as he leathered my face with shaving cream:" With Floyd going to jail, Manny's options for a big fight are pretty limited. Tell me, who is he going to fight next?"
" They are talking about a rematch with Cotto," I said.
" Been there , done, that," cried out Downtown Ronnie Brown:" Why would anybody want to see this fight again. Was there any question about the outcome of the first one? No. Pacman demoralized prime Cotto. He took him down like a rotten tree branch. Cotto's uncle threw in a white towel admitting a total defeat. Aside from Manny getting injured, I don't see a scenario with a different outcome, plus Cotto is a light middleweight now and Manny wowed not to ever go that high in weight after a bout with Margarito. That's just a waste of time, not a competitive fight."
" They are also considering Timothy Bradley. They are the same size," said I.
" With all due respect, and I have been following Bradley from the amateur days," exclaimed Big Steve:" But Mr. Desert Storm couldn't sell ten tickets in Palm Springs and that is where he lives. We came to his fight at Aqua Caliente Casino in 2009 and the place was half empty. I wouldn't call it a high risk, but I would definitely call it a low reward fight for Manny Pacquiao. At this stage of his career Manny needs a high profile opponent. The only name that comes to my mind is Money Mayweather."
" Speaking about high profile opponent, how about Pacquiao Marquez lV?" I inquired.
" Why? Just tell me why?" cried out Al the Barber:" First of all Manny has already beaten him three times. He got robbed by the judges the first time and won the last two. Yes, it was damn close all three times and no matter how many more times they fight it will be close again. The only reason for them to fight is to stir up more controversy, and isn't it what boxing fans want the most; to have a reason to argue about something. For my taste, I've had enough of Pacquiao Marquez. Give me something new. Marquez will price himself right out of that fight anyways, just like he did after the first one in 2004. They offered him 750 thousand dollars for a rematch back then. The proud fool said he was insulted by the offer. Instead he went to Indonesia to fight Chris John for 30 thousand dollars and lost.Somebody, please explain arithmetics to this man. Boxing is just business and the star calls the shots."
" Lamont Peterson is still in Pacquiao sweepstakes. How about him?" I asked.
" Wait a minute please," requested Dave the Barber:" Just because he beat Manny's sparring partner, with a big help from a referee, mind you, it doesn't mean he is ready for Pacquiao. This is a huge mismatch. It would be no kind of a fight; it would be a massacre."
" Any other ideas?" I inquired.
" As a matter of fact, I do have a pretty good idea, even if I have to say so myself," continued Dave the Barber :" Now I know Victor Ortiz is a head case, but that boy is young and strong and he can fight and if you can screw his head in a right place he can give trouble to just about anyone . I am still wondering what would happen if Floyd didn't sucker punched him. Anyways, he is fighting a rematch next month with Berto. They are both young and strong and fast and they both have power in their fists. And you know what else I like? IBF stripped Berto of a title for fighting Ortiz. Ortiz lost his WBC title to Mayweather. They are fighting for no stinking title and no one cares. It's a good fight anyways. It's time to get rid of all these scam alphabet organizations. You know what IBF stands for?( I be a fool) or WBC( want to be a champion?). Enough is enough. these two are young and strong welterweights. The winner should fight Pacman. That would be a worthy opponent.
