With less than thirty days notice, Matt Brown will have a new opponent at UFC on FOX 7.
The UFC broke the news on Thursday night that Brown’s original opponent Dan Hardy had to pull out of the fight with an injury. The Xenia, Ohio native will now face rising welterweight star Jordan Mein.
UFC on FOX 7 will take place on April 20 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card will air live on FOX.
Brown is coming off a big second-round knockout win over Mike Swick at UFC on FOX 5 in December. With the win, Brown earned his first four-fight winning streak of his career.
A contestant on season seven of the “Ultimate Fighter,” Brown has gone 9-5 in the UFC since appearing on the show. "The Immortal” hit a rough patch in 2010 by losing three straight fights but has since turned things around and won five out of his last six.
Mein, 23, is coming off an impressive UFC debut when he stopped Dan Miller in the first round at UFC 158. Mein became the first man to stop Miller in his career.
“Young Gun” came over to the UFC after Strikeforce closed its doors in January. Mein went 2-1 in Strikeforce with his lone loss coming to Tyron Woodley.
UFC on FOX 7 is expected to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez. Also on the card, Frank Mir will take on Daniel Cormier and Nate Diaz will take on Josh Thompson.
