South Lyon Twp., Mich, is a growing area that offers a small town feel with lots of properties with lots of land. It's downtown area is growing as well with businesses moving in that are thriving off of the growth. Those new businesses include Witch's Hat Brewing Co., which opened in 2011.
Why are they called Witch's Hat? This is the name of a landmark in South Lyon where the owners, a husband and wife duo, were married.
Witch's Hat might not have the size of what most consumers think of as a brewery, but they have the beers that can match it up against the biggest and best. Situated in a former coffee shop, they have all the space they need to brew craft beer that they love to make and their customers love to drink.
They offer craft beers for the most seasoned beer enthusiast with their Night Fury, which is a 10.8% ABV imperial stout, or their Demon Cleaner, a Belgian tripel. They also offer their 1908, an amber ale named after the year that South Lyon had a fire that destroyed the train depot and a new one had to be constructed.
They also offer a variety of craft beers for those just stepping into the craft beer scene. From the Hyppie Girl Blonde to their Three Kord Kolsch, these craft brews give a familiar flavor with a bigger body.
Witch's Hat also offers a new growler size, called a "Growlette" which is half the size of a normal growler and all the flavor of your favorite Witch's Hat craft beer.
Witch's Hat is a family owned microbrewery that prides itself of making small size craft beer batches that pack a big punch. So when you do get a chance to drop in have a small taste of all their big beers, you will see how another local brewery has truly honed the craft of a Michigan craft beer.
