WishBooklet brings crowdfunding to purchasing gifts

See also

Although the holiday season has just passed, who doesn't like to receive gifts? WishBooklet lets users simply add any item on the Internet to their wishlist on the website and friends and family can view the wishlist and contribute money towards buying that gift.

The idea behind WishBooklet is to improve gifting overall. As founder Eric Santos wrote in an email:

It’s never any fun receiving a gift that you don’t like. Nor is it any fun spending time looking for a gift for someone that they may not even want. We also noticed it sucks being that one person that has to collect money from all your friends because you are all in pitching in to buy someone a gift. We created WishBooklet to streamline the gifting process.

The website seems to be receiving positive feedback from users. Santos revealed to us in an email that over the holidays, hundreds of people used the crowdfunding feature.

This idea sounds extremely promising, as it is very similar to Kickstarter, except rather than receiving crowdfunding from strangers for a project, WishBooklet is for friends and family to contribute to buying a gift for a person.
