There are a great many events and activities planned to take place in New York City in this season to commemorate the upcoming 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our city and our nation. Important among them is the education and conversation series taking place at the 92nd Street Y , entitled Searching for Answers in a Post-9/11 World.
Of particular note in this series is the September 8, 2011 evening with Emmy Award winner, Arthur Miller in public dialogue with the Wisdom Thinkers Network. The core thrust of the conversation is to examine in light of the rapid swirl of events on 9/11 and in the weeks and months immediately after, whether new core thinking can elevate us from the growing division that resulted from these tragic events.
Wisdom Thinkers asks if even the high-minded ideal of interfaith dialogue is bound by certain self-defeating constraints. The question put forth by this and other projects and conversations from Wisdom Thinkers is if the wisdom found in sacred and secular narrative might not be better as a common standing point from which peaceful relations can begin to define world affairs.
