Wisconsin River Series is open for 2014 entries

The Wisconsin River Series presented by Minn Kota and Humminbird is open for entries for the 2014 season. The River Series is a team bass tour that was developed by Park City Bass Anglers in 2012 after having much success with Open tournaments on area waterways. There are three qualifying tournaments every year that lead to a two-day championship tournament. The first 20 teams each year that enter and pay for all four events are guaranteed a spot in the championship field. The total field for the championship is capped at 36 boats. The entry fee for each tournament is only $150, and there is a $20 big bass side pot that teams can choose to enter at registration before each tournament.

The River Series is all about making the tour special for the anglers. They have been able to secure some great sponsors for the series who offer contingency prizes at the events. While Minn Kota and Humminbird are the major sponsors of the series, Point Beer is also large sponsor. Other sponsors include WisconsinOutdoorFun.com, Bass Nut Lures, St. Croix Rods, Secret Weapon Baits, Evinrude, Stratos, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, BioBorEB, Solar Bat, Rod Glove, and many others, which are all listed on their Website. The Championship allows local anglers to feel that they are part of something big. There is an atmosphere of a large event. The competition for Team of the Year is stiff, and with good cause. There is good prize money to be won as well as many contingency prizes for the top placing team using the sponsors' products.

While The River Series strives to benefit its anglers and sponsors, the series also supports the local economies of several northern and central Wisconsin cities. The series has held tournaments in Stevens Point, Wausau, Tomahawk, and has plans to hold events elsewhere as well in the future. Each team of anglers, at each event, is encouraged to bring a nonperishable food donation for the local food pantry. Each team that does this is given 10 bonus points toward their End of the Year points totals for Team of the Year. The River Series and Park City Bass Anglers then donates all of the food from each event to that city's food pantry. In the two years since the formation of the series, anglers have donated over 4,100 lbs. of food and $800 in cash to area food pantries. The series and their efforts will be featured in the April 2014 edition of FLW Bass Magazine.

The tournaments for 2014 have been set and many teams are already signed up, but there is still room for more teams for each tournament. Entry forms can be downloaded from the River Series Website. The Stevens Point Flowage will be the site of the first qualifying tournament of 2014 on June 7th. The second tournament of the season will be in Tomahawk on June 28th on Lake Nokomis. The last qualifier will be September 6th in Tomahawk on Mohawksin, taking off out of Sara park. The two-day Championship for 2014 will also be held on Lake Mohawksin. The dates for the championship are September 27th and 28th. Anglers interested in joining this competitive series with great payouts and contingency awards are encouraged to learn more at The River Series Website.
